Suppression of martensitic transformation in Ni-Mn-In metamagnetic shape memory alloy under very strong magnetic field

چکیده

The magnetic field induced martensitic transformation (MT) and its arrest exhibited by the prototype Ni-Mn-In metamagnetic shape memory alloy have been studied for two distinct states achieved different cooling routes, namely, a zero (ZFC) strong (SFC). For that, magnetization as function of up to 33 T was measured at constant temperatures. As result, phase diagrams “MT versus temperature” were obtained ZFC SFC samples. entropy difference between aforementioned attributed microstructures formed in along each route.

Kinetic Arrest of Martensitic Transformation in NiCoMnAl Metamagnetic Shape Memory Alloy

Magnetic properties and martensitic transformation behaviors of NiCoMnAl metamagnetic shape memory alloys were investigated. The kinetic arrest phenomenon was observed at about 40K during thermomagnetization measurements. At temperatures ranging from 4.2 to 200K, magnetic field-induced reverse transformation was confirmed by a pulse magnetometer with a magnetic field up to 45 T. By plotting the...

Martensitic transformation and magnetic properties of Co–Ni–Al shape memory alloy ribbons

We report on the magnetic and martensitic transformation properties of Co39Ni33Al28 ferromagnetic shape memory alloy ribbons. We found that the phase formation of Co39Ni33Al28 is strongly dependent on the method of preparation. The conventional as-cast ingot sample contains a large amount of the γ phase embedded in the primary β phase, while melt-spun ribbons contain the pure β phase. Co39Ni33A...

Isothermal martensitic transformation in metamagnetic shape memory alloys

We show that in metamagnetic shape memory alloys exhibiting a magnetostructural first order phase transition the direct transition from ferromagnetic austenite to nonmagnetic martensite is isothermal. In contrast to the direct transformation, the reverse one nonmagnetic martensite–ferromagnetic austenite is athermal, just as are athermal both direct and reverse martensitic transformations in co...

Long-Range Atomic Order and Entropy Change at the Martensitic Transformation in a Ni-Mn-In-Co Metamagnetic Shape Memory Alloy

The influence of the atomic order on the martensitic transformation entropy change has been studied in a Ni-Mn-In-Co metamagnetic shape memory alloy through the evolution of the transformation temperatures under high-temperature quenching and post-quench annealing thermal treatments. It is confirmed that the entropy change evolves as a consequence of the variations on the degree of L21 atomic o...
